The film is set in China's Hengdian World Studios, the world's largest film studio and the shooting locale of countless Chinese period productions. Audiences are introduced to the world of Chinawood through the eyes of bumbling country boy Peng (Wang Guopeng), who arrives in Hengdian with nothing to his name besides an earnest desire to become an actor.
